What will the solar panels look like on my home?
We use the latest 'seamless', matte black, solar panels installed using attractive facings which hide the mounting hardware. These arrays are custom fit to your home in an aesthetic manner. They will cover roof-space approximately equal to the roof-space on a two-car garage. Your roof will look great while making you feel great about saving the planet!
How easy is the solar panel installation process?
Our team of professionals has been installing solar panels for over 17years and has been involved in over half of all solar capacity installed in Canada. This professional crew will survey your roof, conduct much of the assembly offsite, and install the array in just one day. The array itself is fastened to your roof using the latest Sharp mounts which are aesthetically pleasing while ensuring your roof is protected. In the event that anything does go wrong or gets damaged during the installation we'll pay to make it right (we're fully insured).
Will having a 'Roof Rental' array on my home affect the value of my home?
Putting a solar array on your roof is like putting a protective coat over your most valuable asset. The solar array will actually lengthen the expected lifespan of your roof, while the ongoing maintenance you will receive from The Company will ensure that it remains thoroughly kept up.
Will having a 'Roof Rental' solar array impact my ability to sell my home?
The solar array will be a feature that will increase the value of your home when you go to sell it. The contract with Solarent Energy will transfer to the new owner, who will continue to receive payments from Solarent for the remainder of the contract. If the new owner does not want the solar panels, Solarent Energy's professional solar specialists will remove them for you subject to a break fee (as explained in the contract)
How much maintenance is required?
To ensure that a solar array receives direct sunlight, it requires some maintenance. In addition to limited maintenance for minor repairs or installation maintenance over the life of the panels, they will require some level of snow cleaning during the winter months (depending on snowfall and panel angle).
Solarent is responsible for all costs associated with maintaining the solar array. Since we install only the very best hardware, maintenance is minimal. When infrequent maintenance is required, we'll schedule a visit at a time that is convenient to you and provide you with plenty of notice. Our maintenance team is fully bonded and insured and Solarent will repair any damage which results from array maintenance.
What type of insurance does Solarent have, and will I require additional insurance to cover the panels?
Solarent handles all insurance costs related to the solar array - all you have to do is notify your insurance company about the installation, and that Solarent has already insured the array. Our comprehensive insurance policy covers damage, vandalism, and theft, and as the homeowner you bear no responsibility for anything beyond you deliberately damaging the array.
Are there any contingencies in place to ensure payment of rental income?
Given the length of our contract with homeowners, and the variability in the market and economy, we set aside a contingency fund for every home we sign up to ensure that our contract with each homeowner will be fulfilled. These funds are held in a trust and, combined with your solar array's ongoing earnings, ensure that you will receive your annual payment and ongoing professional maintenance for the life of your contract with us.
What are the risks in this for me?
With Solarent taking responsibility for any fluctuations in how much electricity your roof generates, and taking responsibly for anything that might happen to your array, there is virtually no risk to you. Meanwhile, you're turning your roof into a guaranteed revenue stream.
How much will I make in rent per year?
We pay a yearly rent of $100 per kW installed (e.g., $500 for a 5kW array). We have various financing options - you can choose the rental payment terms that best suit your needs
Will my roof qualify for the Solar Roof Rental Solution?
We are looking for roofs that are in reasonably good structural condition, which are located in Ontario, and that are not obstructed by trees / buildings. An ideal roof segment is sloped facing south, is unobstructed, and is greater than 300 square feet. If you are unsure, or would just like some more information, we are happy to provide a home solar assessment for you (they're free, and we can do them remotely).
Can I have the panels removed before the end of my contract?
It is possible to have the panels removed before the end of the 20 year contract, although penalties will apply for breaking the initial contract.
What happens if I need to renovate my roof?
Should you need to renovate your roof, we provide one free removal and re-installation of the panels, provided the panels are replaced on the new roof within a reasonable time frame
